Content, Triggers, & Tropes

Once in a while a reader picks up a book and reads a passage that triggers an old memory—one we’d rather not relive. We’ve all been there—it sucks.

As authors, we do our best to set trigger or content warnings, but it doesn’t seem to me as a reader or an author that there is a consistent way to gauge the spice, steam, or violence across all books.

As an author I write a wide variety of genres; from sweet romance to full-on thriller, with a spectrum of life lived in between so I have come up with a few things to help you, the reader with my books.

All of my books from sweet and light to hard-hitting, have curse words in them. Even if we as a society don’t always curse aloud, we say them in our heads, and as I write they flow from my fingers, so I keep them in the books, though at times I use creative euphemisms.

Sarcasm is my love language and dark humor is part of my soul, so it ends up on the pages as well.

I’m not shy about the topics of gender, consent, equality, sexuality, LGBTQIA+, and saving the planet. I will try and give warnings about these as there might be an element of one or all in every book I write. I feel they are a huge part of our lives as humans and we need to stop covering our ears, closing our eyes, and keeping our mouths shut.

I will leave warnings in the front of each of my books that contain any or all of the following: adult language, adult situations, domestic assault, violence, murder, BDSM, Power Exchange, Age play, reverse harem/harems, dub-con, rape, abuse, neglect, murder, stalking, child abuse, suicide, depression, anger, mental illness, plus any and/or all of the above.

It can be a lot, but well worth it if you take the time to enjoy my books.

Domestic violence happens far more than any of us want to acknowledge. It affects all of us, female, male, rich, poor, young or old. The violence we perpetrate against each other knows no bounds.

If we continue to See No Evil, Speak No Evil, and Hear No Evil, we protect the lie!

Speak out! It could save a life and that life might be yours!
